About 80 people gathered to celebrate the dedication and naming ceremony of Daniel Rufus Oliver Brake in the church. The service started with the song “Come on and celebrate” which set the tone for the morning.

aniel was on fine form as he clambered around the platform dressed in a very fetching suit and bow-tie.  At one point he was heading off to the baptistery…..one day…maybe!!


As Wendy gave thanks to God for the gift of life in Daniel, she also made promises for the way she would bring him up. The congregation were then given the opportunity to make their promises: to be there for them when needed and to support them in prayer; a recognition that we are community and that no-one has to walk the road of life alone. Linda then presented Wendy with a bunch of flowers and Daniel with a Bible with an inscription in the front from Proverbs 3: 5-6 “Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not rely on your own insight. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths.” After watching a ‘you tube’ clip of Daniel and the Lions Den…

…the children left for a time of Craft with Linda, whilst Clare talked about Daniel, who was – a friend, faithful and fearless.


The service was followed by coffee and then lunch in the hall, beautifully decorated with helium balloons. It was good to see everyone intermingling, chatting and generally having a good time before heading home to enjoy the summer sunshine!
